The introduction of POP MUSIC and the start of the RECORDING INDUSTRY at the start of the 20th Century saw an explosion of talent and all the instruments, vocals etc., were performed live. With the invention of the MICRO CHIP, technology was about to change the world for ever, but for better or worse? KARAOKE,

PERSONAL COMPUTERS and of course MOBILE PHONES have had a dramatic effect on life in general but especially in music! The X FACTOR has made everyone think they can be a ‘star’ and very quickly! Has the music industry, therefore ‘regressed’ and not ‘progressed’? LIVE MUSIC as we used to know it is no longer LIVE. What then will happen in the future? How far will this technological age take us? Perhaps ROBOTS or HOLOGRAMS? Or will we all get fed up with downloading our lives to make everything easier and go ‘back to the future’ and re-invent entertainment and resurrect the life back in to LIVE MUSIC?

Hi all fellow isolationists, cocoonists and general ‘keep 2 mtrs away’ people!

How are we all doing after several weeks of this dreadful virus?

How are you coping locked together 24/7?

Well here is a list of what Sun sign you are and how you are likely to be coping….just a bit of fun….or is it?

LEO…..The King and Queen of the jungle will also regret not being in their own domain in the wild world as FIRE signs do. However King Leo will probably just flop in front of the TV and let his courtiers do his bidding whilst LADY LEO will be doing all the chores, bringing up the kids, cooking etc,etc…..Come on our King, give them a break?

VIRGO…..These very down to EARTH signs will have everything and everybody organised to the second and minute of every hour! Breakfast at 08.30 hours everyone, exercise at 11.00, lunch at 01.00pm…etc.Just go along with it folks and just do your own thing in the end BUT they will be the best people to go running to if a crisis hits your family!

SCORPIO….Here we have the strongest of the WATER signs and you better be doing what these guys and gals tell you or beware the STING! They probably have the best ideas but boy do they let you know they were right all along…..hope the isolation doesn’t last too long for those under their control!!

PISCES….our fish is a real WATER sign of course…full of emotion but with a determination to rescue the underdog even when they don’t want or need it! So in a confinement situation you may well get hours of Government bashing, Illuminati and conspiracy theories to melt your brain! Just agree for a peaceful life although they would stand in your corner any day if you needed them….or not!

Have you been to a LIVE MUSIC event recently? A concert or just in the local pub? Was the music really LIVE or using backing tracks? Was the singer really singing 5 part harmonies with one voice? Was the singer really singing or ‘god forbid’ MIMING? Shock horror! Was the keyboard player really playing? The answer to all these questions is..’ of course’, ‘well perhaps’, ‘mm..not everything’, etc., etc.

In fairness, a ”one-man-band” show generally has to rely on tracks and everyone is so used to ‘technology’, Karaoke, etc., that they only are interested in the overall sound and performance. What was it like though for all ‘working musos’ from year dot up to the 1980’s when technology in music started to evolve at a faster rate than climate change!

In my book THE LIFE, DEATH, and RESURRECTION of LIVE MUSIC, I travel back through time to the emergence of the first ‘known’ musicians in caves to the present day amazing music makers.
